Based in the village of Benito Juárez, positioned in Oaxaca’s Ixtlán district (more typically known as the Sierra Norte, the state’s major ecotourism region), Mico-lógica’s mission is threefold: to teach equally Mexicans and guests to the united states in the low-cost cultivation of a number of mushroom species; to educate concerning the therapeutic, nutritional and environmental (sustainable) value of mushrooms; and to perform constant research regarding optimum climatic parts and the diversity of substrata for mushroom culture.
The French-born Mathieu transferred to Mexico, and in fact to Huautla delaware Jiménez, in 2005. “Sure, coming all how you can Mexico from France to follow my fascination with weeds appears like a long way to visit,” Mathieu explained in a recently available appointment in Oaxaca. “But there really wasn’t much of a chance to conduct studies and develop a business in European Europe,” he polkadot chocolate, “since reverence for mushrooms have been all but completely eradicated by The Church over the length of ages; and I learned that Mexico still maintains a respect and understanding for the healing and nutritional price of hongos. Mexico is not even close to mycophobic.”
Huautla p Jiménez is greater than a five hour drive from the best urban center. Accordingly, Mathieu ultimately realized that residing in Huautla, while holding an historic draw and being in a geographic place favorable to working with weeds, might restrict his initiatives to develop a company and cultivate widespread fascination with researching fungi. Mathieu turned aware of the robust standing of Oaxaca’s ecotourism areas of the Sierra Norte, and certainly the Feria Local de Hongos Silvestres (regional wild mushroom festival), presented annually in Cuahimoloyas.
Mathieu met Josefina Jiménez at the summertime week-end mushroom event. Jiménez had moved to Oaxaca from neighborhood Mexico Town in 2002. Both distributed related passions; Jiménez had learned agronomy, and for near to a decade had been working with sustainable agriculture tasks in rural farming towns in the Huasteca Potosina place of San Luis Potosí, the hills of Guerrero and the coast of Chiapas. Mathieu and Jiménez became company, and then life partners in Benito Juárez.
